Memo:

One of my first bands in high school had an interesting practice space. Somehow the drummer's girlfriend got her parents to let us practice in their basement. This wasn't your typical basement (or home for that matter). This particular basement space doubled as a firing range, complete with targets. Empty bullet casings covered the floor. Upstairs, the girlfriend's father had a room called the "War Room". It was his own personal museum dedicated to World War 2 and it had weapons (guns, knives, etc.) and photos and barbed wire from the concentration camps. He also owned a tank from this time period (that was outside). My friend told me that the father (who would eventually become his father-in-law) would sometimes cook breakfast in his boxers and undershirt, a .45 caliber strapped across his chest, singing the songs of Nazi Stormtroopers as he scrambled the eggs. Before I was in this band I took guitar lessons from this man's wife. During our breaks from practicing, we'd go outside and shoot the crossbow, which was one of many weapons on the premises.
