Robbie began playing piano at age 5 and saxophones from age 9. He quickly branched out into other related instruments, like odd bamboo flutes and a clarinet specifically made for horseback riding, appreciating the subtleties of less familiar sounds. When he began singing and writing songs, he followed the same approach, adding unusual string instruments, bells, whistles, and anything else he could get his hands on to his arrangements. He plays solo shows of both noisy improv and melodic pop music. Much of his time is spent working and recording with other musicians such as Howling Hex,Baby Dee, Love as Laughter, Otto Hauser of Espers and Vetiver, and many more.

PRISM index was introduced to Robbie through Lisa Foti-Straus, director of the up-coming feature documentary about Michael Hurley, called “Elwood Snock and the Land of Lo-Fi.” Robbie contributed a track from his unreleased demos, where he plays the lonely harpsichord in his apartment. It’s quite beautiful, and rounds out the PRISM index CD compilation right before Golden Ghost’s cover of Mariah Carey.
