Mel Kadel has been living and working in Los Angeles for the last 12 years. She resides in an old cabin on the backside of a hill, overlooking the 5 Freeway. She is a quietly confident illustrator whose paintings have been exhibited internationally. She attended Mass. Art. Beyond her paintings, she makes her work available through hand-stained limited edition prints and zines. Over the years she has become an expert at staining paper with coffee to produce specific and spontaneous variations for her work. She describes her style as “mooshy.” You be the judge.
