Carson Mell makes weird films. Low-frame-rate flash animations with heavily stylized characters talking about past greatness and violent pet monkeys. Throughout Carson’s short film career, he has managed to create a singular and very intriguing false history of himself. You can go over to Carson’s website and see most of his short films, and on the PRISM index DVD you can enjoy his “Zoology” program, “Zewesawam,” co-direted by Grant Farlardeau.
Memo:
The “Zewesawam” program follows outcast zoologists B-Mon and Cuate as they scour the world for new and fantastic creatures. Though the ambitious explorers quickly finished their first self-financed episode and put together a pitch package, both networks and bigwig financiers alike were wary to invest in the show due to it’s unorthodox production methods. While B-Mon and Cuate’s adventures haven’t ceased, they are currently undocumented. They continue to hunt out and classify new species of animals in hopes of attracting enough investors to finish the "Zewesawam" series and start a zoo.
