A Brief History of John Baldessari
May 17th, 2012Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman created a wonderful short film about the life and work of artist John Baldessari. The film is narrated by Tom Waits and is told in the same playful, self-aware style of the artist himself. The filmmakers are coming off their great work with 2010′s Catfish and 2011′s Paranormal Activity 3. I can’t wait to see their new project, which is supposedly The Monkey Wrench Gang.
Informative Beauty – The Art of Anatomy
May 14th, 2012An introductory video to the power and purpose of illustrated science. The narrator gives a brief history of how art has been used over time to both educate and illuminate the public’s understanding of their own bodies and grow to appreciate them. It’s very beautifully animated and concludes with championing informative beauty, a valuable idea.
